What's Happening in Wilmington, DE…

Santa to work on the railroad

There are many ways to celebrate the holidays, and Wilmington is offering one of the most fun—a train ride with Santa.

The Wilmington & Western Railroad is running the Santa Claus Express, a 90-minute round trip train ride from Wilmington to Ashland and back. Santa himself will be on the train, where he will stop and say hello to everyone aboard. He will also have chocolate treats for all the children, and will be happy to pose for photos with them. The train will be pulled by either a historic steam engine, or one of the railroad's first-generation diesels.

There is a total of 25 departures. The schedule is for a steam locomotive to pull the train on November 27, at 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm; and on November 28 and 29 at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm both days.

A diesel will do the work on December 5 and 6, at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm both days. Steam returns December 12 and 13, at 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm both days. Diesel will power the last three days: December 19 and 20 at 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm both days; and December 23 at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm.

Trips like this tend to sell out quickly, especially when a steam engine is involved, so people should buy tickets as soon as possible. Brochure printing can provide schedules for events like this.
