Kanye makes hip hop stop in Wilmington
Wilmington’s Stratosphere Trampoline Park enjoyed a recent brush with stardom, when rapper Kanye West called in to enjoy some Saturday evening fun with his Delaware-based nephews.
The hip hop megastar, perhaps known as much for being the other half of socialite Kim Kardashian as for his world-famous music, was in the area to celebrate the eighth birthday of his son, his cousin Abigail has explained.
West’s appearance was one of two incidents of note in Wilmington on Saturday, December 13, with a new ice rink also welcoming customers over that weekend. While skaters made the most of the new offering, trampolinists were more transfixed by the ‘Gold Digger’ rapper, making any effort they could to chat and pose for photos with their hero.
Several locals who had been enjoying a weekend bounce were quick to head to Twitter to boast of their celebrity sighting. One of them, using the handle @onmyjob23, shared a photo of West on the social media site, while Delaware-based fans of the superstar who missed out on the surprise visit bemoaned their bad fortune and envy.
With celebrity endorsements always helping leisure centers to drum up publicity, locals should not be surprised if West were to feature in future promotional paraphernalia for Stratosphere, with poster and flyer printing campaigns likely to focus on him should he become a regular visitor.
