Holiday parade to return in Wilmington
The tradition of the holiday parade will be making a comeback in late November in Wilmington, after it had to be cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19.
The 2021 parade will be the 57th annual edition of the downtown event. Flyer printing and poster printing are often used to promote similar events throughout the local area.
The Wilmington Jaycees Christmas Parade contains many of the elements a viewer might expect to see, some with a more local touch. Marching bands, cartoon and story characters, local community groups, military groups, winners of pageants, string bands, fire and police departments, celebrities, attractions, floats, dignitaries, and Santa Claus are on the itinerary. Some of the past famous faces have been Aubrey Plaza, Luke Matheny, and Evette Freeman.
In addition to these traditional elements, children will be able to give their letters for Santa to some of his elves throughout the parade, or place it in a huge mailbox. Those who give Santa their address along with their name will get a reply from the jolly guy in red himself during December.
The parade is free to attend. Several street closures will occur during the time of the event, information on which can be found through the Wilmington Jaycees website.
The date is November 27, and the parade will kick off at 11:00 am. Under current advice, attendees are encouraged to wear masks to the event.
