Temecula unemployment rates falling

Riverside County’s unemployment rates have been dropping, and Temecula has been keeping up with that trend. In fact, its number of jobseekers has fallen to a level that puts it well below the county average.

State officials recently noted that, according to their preliminary estimates, there have been gains in most sectors of the economy, and this is reflected in the rising level of available positions. The number released by the California Employment Development Department indicate that in November, the unemployment rate for the county fell to 6.2 percent from 6.5 percent in October, and 7.7 percent for the same period the year before.

Temecula’s unemployment rate sat at just 4.5%, which puts it well below the rate seen in many other communities in Riverside County. The percentages for these range from a low of 3.7% percent to a high of 16.2%.

Combined data from San Bernardino and Riverside Counties indicates that the largest gains are being made in the retail sector, which saw the addition of 12,600 new positions. The hospitality and public sectors also made significant gains, as did agriculture. This can result in spinoff benefits for a variety of enterprises, such as companies that provide printing services, which can further help to drive employment levels upwards.

The total civilian labor force for Riverside County in November was 1,031,500 people.
