Temecula celebrated the arrival of 2016 with its own special take on the famous Times Square ball drop that occurs each year in New York City.
Instead of a ball, the city, which lies in the heart of California’s wine country, marked the occasion by dropping a seven-foot-wide cluster of grapes. The cluster was made of 160 balls, measured 12 feet long, and had more than 7,000 lights that made it sparkle in the night.
Along with the “grape drop”, there were a variety of family activities to enjoy that started once the sky began to darken. There was ice skating on the outdoor rink, a giant slide, face painting, hat making, and calligraphy art. There was also live music to enjoy from the front steps of city hall provided by bands such as Resonatel, Inland Empire Chorus, Escape, Stone Soul, and Even Wecksell.
Hot chocolate was available to help people warm up in the chilly air. This can be handed out in custom Drinkware that has been specially designed for the occasion, perhaps printed with the community or event logo, or whichever other graphics are desired.
The “fun for all ages” activities went on throughout the “East Coast Countdown”, which took place at 9:00 pm, after which the “West Coast Countdown” began, which was geared for the older crowd. Their countdown began at midnight. Get a Free Quote for Drinkware
