Roseville runners race through February

Runners here in Roseville will have a couple of opportunities to run 5Ks during February.

Walkers/joggers and racers are invited to the Single Moms Strong Community Challenge 5K on Sunday, February 16. The event will be timed and registration will be by donation. Proceeds from the run will go to the new Empowerment Center’s children programs. The first 10 runners to register with over $25 donations will receive event T-Shirts sporting the SMS Community Challenge Logo Design. All community residents and all fitness levels are welcome.

Runners are to meet at the basketball court in Maidu Regional Park, 1550 Maidu Drive. The event will be from 8:30 am until 10:00 pm.

On Saturday, February 22, runners can head over to Granite Bay for the Lost Trail Half Marathon & 5K. Participants will run an out-and-back on trails through Folsom Lake State Park. The start and finish line will be overlooking the bay on the park’s beach.

After progressing through the parking lot, the walkers and runners will go along the lake’s shoreline, going south. The early miles will be mostly small but steep hills. Later, the terrain changes as the course goes up Mooney Ridge and then turns back to the finish line. Half marathon runners will start at 8:00 am followed by the 5K race walkers and runners at 8:05 am.
