To salute our veterans on this upcoming Memorial Day, Roseville residents may want to attend the 50th Annual North Highlands Memorial Day Parade.
The parade is being hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4647. As in the past, it will have marching bands, equestrians, classic and antique vehicles, color guards, drill teams, and floats. All entries will be judged at the reviewing stand (across from Karen Street) where many may perform for 20 seconds. Trophies will be awarded to winners in each of 20 categories, and each participant will receive a participation ribbon. All may pick up their awards at the VFW Post 4647 immediately after the parade.
Before the parade, both participants and spectators are invited to a pancake breakfast provided by the Highland Community Church.
The one-mile parade route will begin on 1st Street at the North Highlands Community Church and will turn south onto Watt Avenue. After marching passed five street intersections, it will turn onto A Street and dissemble there.
Afterwards everyone is invited to eat hot dogs, drink sodas, and other beverages at the VFW.
The parade is scheduled to step off at 10:00 am, Monday, May 30. The Community Church breakfast will be from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at 6331 Watt Ave., Highlands. Veterans, bands, floats and others wishing to participate will want to get their banner printing done as soon as possible and get registered before May 20.
