Roseville keeps on Truckin

Big Truck Summer is in full array at Maidu Regional Park, 1550 Maidu Drive and Utility Explorations Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Boulevard. Wednesdays are set aside for little drivers to watch city utility trucks demonstrate their prowess. The little ones can also sit in the large vehicles.

Each event will begin with story time at 9:30 am and that will be followed by one hour of truck exploration and demonstrations. There will also be activities and games for the children. A different utility truck will be featured each week.

On July 17th, garbage trucks, all seven kinds, will be at Maidu Regional Park. Kids can watch them crush furniture. On the following Wednesday, July 24th, vactor and pipescope vehicles will be at the Utility Exploration Center. Our Wastewater Crew will demonstrate high-tech equipment they use to monitor our sewer system and how the vactor trucks clears a blockage. Games will include hitting a spinning target using water guns.

The series will end on July 31st as electric line trucks will be rolled out at the center. Line men will ascend poles and demonstrate their equipment and tools. Kids can then get the chance to handle and “fix” the line. One of the demonstrations will be a Mylar balloon getting stuck in power lines.

Parents like to take pictures of their little ones in trucks like these and can then take the photos to Stationery printers to be added to family Calendars.
