Roseville gets ready for the holidays

Roseville will be getting into the seasonal spirit with its annual Downtown Holiday Celebration coming in early December.

The city’s third annual Gingerbread House Contest will have three categories this year- Individual and Family, Children’s Creations, and Organizations and Companies. Houses must not be more than 24 inches high, and completely edible. Exceptions will be for any lighting or additions to the board.

Applications must be submitted by November 13. Bakers will be submitting their originally designed and built houses on December 1 at the Civic Center 311 Vernon Street, and will need to do it by 4:00 pm.

Votes will be cast online starting December 3 and running until December 10. Winners in each category will be posted online on Roseville’s website. The Gingerbread Houses will be shown at the Civic Center from December 1 until December 11.

Local businesses, schools and organizations will be decorating trees for the annual Christmas Tree Grove. Tree decorators will be trimming their six-foot pine trees on Tuesday, December 1 from noon until 5:00 pm. The grove will be on display until December 11.

Holiday displays like the Christmas Tree Grove make fitting backdrops for family photos, which can be taken to local Stationery printers to be made into Holiday Cards.

Downtown Holiday Celebration will run from December 1 until 11 in Vernon Street Town Square, 311 Vernon Street. The annual lighting of the City’s Christmas tree will take place the first evening.
