Heritage Trail travelers can pack museum visits into two days

The middle of next month, museum patrons will get the chance to attend 20 museums along a route from Roseville to Tahoe.

The event and admission to all museums will be free. Organizers are hoping to showcase the region’s colorful history in this unique, entertaining, and fun way.

There will be three clusters of museums. South Placer will have seven Valley Museums, the Historic Courthouse will be the center location of six Auburn museums, and the north shore of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada will be the location of seven Mountain Museums.

Each museum has its own distinctive ambience and style. Many of them will be offering their guests beverages such as root beer floats, water, and lemonade. Food such as hand churned ice-cream and cookies will also be served. Availability of restroom facilities can be found in the 2015 Trail Online guide.

Visitors may begin at any museum on the tour. Although this will be self-guided tour, the Placer County Museums Division reserves the right to use any pictures that their photographers may take during the event, perhaps taking them to local printing services for future promotional materials.

The tour will be August 15 and 16 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All directions will be from west to east on Interstate 80.
