Roseville parents, their kids and anyone else who enjoys young people’s literature will get an opportunity this month to see the book ‘Tilly the Trickster’ brought to life by the Roseville Theatre Arts Academy.
The book was written by Molly Shannon, of Saturday Night Live fame. Her husband Ard Hoyt provided the illustrations. The story is about a little girl who loves to play pranks on people, whether this is by putting little holes in cups to make them leak, to making cookies with toothpaste added. She comes up with tricks for everyone in her life, from her parents to her classmates and her teacher, but soon she will get her comeuppance as those she has tricked have a trick in store for her. The play will be live action, with actors filling the roles of characters in the book.
Those who plan to attend may want to bring their cameras, and there are likely to be picture-taking opportunities afterwards with the characters from the book. The picture might be used later in postcard printing for sending to relatives.
The play was previously hosted on January 3, with four performances taking place that day, but two more opportunities to see it are coming up on Saturday, February 6. Tickets can be purchased online for $8. Performance times can be viewed at the Academy’s website.
