Area dogs go to their own event

The 11th annual Woofstock Festival will be upon us in a couple of weeks. Local dogs and their owners are invited to attend this day of doggie-themed activities. Over 10,000 guests and their canine friends are expected to attend.

Activities for man’s best friends include a dog obstacle course, dog friendly art and a doggie fashion show. Those activities aimed more for the humans will be live music, food and entertainment.

A costume ‘pawrade’ will be free and open to Roseville owners and their dogs. Some entrants will be bringing Banners and non-motorized floats. The event will also have a Pawcake Breakfast sponsored by Cub Scout Pack 29.

The Grateful Dog Rescue Run will be a 5K Run/Walk with runners and their dogs along a mile-long off-road park setting. Proceeds will go the Healing Heroes program.

The big draw for the day will be the dog races. Pugs and dachshunds will have their own heats. All other sizes and breeds can be entered in the Open Division. There will be 12 spots in each race, and entry fees will be $5.

Local profit and non-profit organization vendors, with preference being given to those dealing in dog-related merchandise, will be on the site. Canine rescue groups will also be vending.

Woofstock Festival will be August 27 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm in Johnson-Springview Park, 5480 5th Street, in Rocklin.
