The BBC will film pivotal moments in the retailers calendar for its documentary, with these prominent periods including the lead-up to Mother’s Day, Easter and Christmas.
Hedge End in Southampton is one of the company’s largest branches, with more than 600 employees, and it will feature in the programme along with the Sainsbury’s Merseyside depot in Haydock Park and headquarters based in London. Employees in all three locations will be followed by the BBC who will craft the six-episode series in hour-long instalments.
Sainsbury’s celebrates its 150th birthday this year and is the third largest supermarket chain the UK. Retail outlets commemorating special anniversaries can create Promotional Products to mark the occasion.
BBC commissioning editor for documentaries, Emily Smith commented:
“This is a really interesting time for retail as a whole, and for supermarkets in particular. We all know Sainsbury’s but we have little knowledge of all the challenges and decision-making that happens behind the shelves.”
Highlights of the show will include the search for small suppliers who could find their business transformed overnight if chosen to be stocked at Sainsbury’s, and a graduate of fashion and her new line being sold to the company’s 26 million shoppers.
The BBC series is being produced under a working title “Inside The Supermarket” and will be produced by ITN Productions.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
