Search starts for minibus drivers in Hedge End

Hedge End town council has launched an appeal to find qualified minibus drivers in the region to help with Plans for a free community bus service.

A series of Posters have been created to publicise the campaign in the town itself and in nearby Southampton. The printed materials are aimed towards the members of the community who may benefit from the service.

Printing companies in Southampton often help local authorities to communicate such appeals using services like banner and poster printing. Southampton and Hedge End residents are known to respond positively to this kind of advertising, making it an effective way to attract new volunteers.

The council has been granted £10,000 as part of the Portas Pilot scheme and it aims to spend some of that money on making a regular, timetabled community bus a permanent fixture in the area.

There have already been some route tests carried out by volunteer drivers Tim Gallacher and Derek Firth, but the council needs to secure permanent, qualified minibus drivers to ensure the safety of the passengers and the promptness of the bus along its route.

Anyone wishing to volunteer a few hours of their time on a regular basis to get involved with driving the free community minibus in Hedge End is encouraged to contact Kevin Glyn-Davies, the town clerk for Hedge End town council. Minibus drivers should ensure that they have the correct type of driver’s license before applying as only qualified entrants will be considered.
