Those behind the initiative want to reduce the problem of congestion in the Southampton area. Highways England and the local authority may be prepared to spend up to £250m to address several areas of difficulty. Consulting about the Plans might mean using leaflets from Print shops in Southampton.
Jacqui Rayment, a local councillor with responsibility for transport, told the Daily Echo:
“As cabinet member I am delighted that Highways England are looking at how they can invest further in the city and for the people coming in and out of Southampton on the eastern corridor this has got to be a good thing to do.”
One idea in the plan would mean extensive work in relation to two bridges. These old structures would be rebuilt. The idea would be to make the daily journeys of ordinary people much easier. Drivers could still use one of the old bridges while a new one was being constructed. In this way, temporary inconvenience could be reduced significantly.
Part of the initiative would see road widening. This could enable commuters to get to their destinations quickly via dual carriageways. A further move would mean that a perceived problem with a roundabout would be resolved through the use of a new design. Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Plans
