Multi-talented UK artist returns to Southampton

Southampton will welcome back a UK talent known for his appearances on television and the stage, along with his chart-topping hits.

For four years, singer, actor and composer David Essex has not undertaken a major UK tour. Now, fans of the artist from all over Southampton, from Hedge End to Botley Green, will be able to see him perform as part of a new series of concerts across the country.

Born David Albert Cook, Essex took his stage name from his UK birthplace and shot to fame back in the 1970s with film appearances and self-penned songs. With 19 Top 40 hits here in Britain, Essex has also earned international acclaim, with his many albums and singles.

Those attending the upcoming concert in Southampton will have the opportunity to hear a setlist of classic Essex tracks like “Rock On”, and his two UK number ones, “Gonna Make You a Star” and “Hold Me Close”. Music venues sometimes use poster printing services to create advertisements for upcoming shows like this.

Commenting on the new tour, entitled “I’ll Be Missing You”, Essex said:

“I've had so many requests to tour again, so I've decided to do one more tour.”

Essex will play the Mayflower Theatre at 22-26 Commercial Road in Southampton on September 19. The show will start at 7.30 pm, and tickets are priced between £35.50 and £89.
