Leaflets urge locals to save Stoneham Park

Leaflets have been distributed throughout a Hampshire town to drum up support to help save a local park from being used for a new housing development.

Residents of Eastleigh, near Southampton, have recently spoken out in protest about Plans to close Stoneham Park and turn it into over a thousand new homes. There are also Plans to expand a local supermarket into the grounds of the park. Residents of the surrounding area are calling upon local people to sign a petition to ensure this development does not go ahead.

An action group has been put together in opposition of the proposed developments and this group is using a sense of community spirit to highlight how important they believe the park is to local residents. The leaflet, which was produced by the ‘Save Stoneham Park’ group, was used to advertise a group walk around the park itself and gave details about events which would be held on the day, such as discussions, mock elections and graffiti walls. Local Print companies offering leaflet and flyer printing in Southampton and Hedge End are often called upon by local groups to help produce leaflets like this one.

The consultation period for the changes to Stoneham Park ends in July. More information about how to help save the park can be found either on the leaflets, which have been distributed throughout the town, or by visiting the ‘Save Stoneham Park’ website. The petition to save the park is also available for people to sign on the website.
