Hedge End Park near Southampton is being used as the host venue for a two week long Scalextric tournament to raise money for charity.
The Scalextric track, which is a whopping 60 feet long, has been erected in the park as part of a two-week campaign to raise funds for the cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
The track has been installed by local electrical firm RS Components and the tournament is being help as part of a drive to raise £250,000 for the charity by pitting people against each other in head-to-head races. As well as contributing to charity, participants could also be in line to receive a prize.
The branch manager of RS Components, Darren Flood, spoke about this, saying:
“Competition is already fierce between our customers and the team. We have some great prizes lined up for the overall winner of the fastest track time. Everyone is welcome to come along to the branch in Hedge End and compete.”
