Cushman and Wakefield marketed
the site on behalf of Ford and developers Mountpark seized the opportunity. As a result of the completion of the deal, around 1000 posts may be filled. Print shops in Southampton Hedge End may indeed benefit from additional business printing if the site prospers in the future. Philip O’Callaghan, a director at Mountpark, commented:
“We have already started engaging with Southampton City Council and over the course of the first few months of next year we will continue negotiations over a planning application. It’s a major employment site and it’s fair to say our Plans will fit in with that.”
Mountpark has offices outside the UK, with centres in Poland and Luxembourg. It already has significant sites in Britain. These include complexes in Greater Manchester, Leicestershire and West Yorkshire.
It was revealed that Mountpark offered about £20 million for the industrial space in Hampshire. The idea is that the company will hand in its proposals before July. The hope is that site-based work will start during the second half of 2016. Councillor Simon Letts has welcomed the prospect of the activity.
During early 2017, some units at the location should be in operation according to Mountpark. The completed logistics park may be about 450,000 square feet in extent. Get a Free Quote for Plans Get a Free Quote for Print
