Timmins to celebrate Canada's 148th birthday

This Canada Day, Timmins will be holding a celebration at Mountjoy Historical Conservation Park. It is presented by the City of Timmins and Tourism Timmins.

The day will begin with a walk with ‘Mr. Canada’ (Karl Habla) from City Hall to the Schumacher Flag Park. The opening ceremonies will take place at noon and will be emceed by Mike Doody.

The celebration will have lots of activities for the entire family during the afternoon. There will be a children's activity area, horse-drawn wagon, and pony rides and pontoon cruises (these are booked in advance and cost $20). The Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society will be hosting the Canada Day dog show.

There is also set to be musical performances from a variety of entertainers, including Joanne Marie, Gabrielle Bazzara, and Celeste Levis and Friends. A vendors’ marketplace will also be offering general merchandise and arts and crafts for sale. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

The event will finish off at dusk with a fireworks spectacular set to music. Organizers will likely be investing in banner printing services from Timmins Print companies to recognize companies who have sponsored the event.

The Canada Day Celebrations will be held at Mountjoy Historical Conservation Park's Participark on July 1, beginning at 11:00 am. Admission is free. For more information about the day's events, call 705-360-2600 x3785.
