The mining sector plays a significant role in the Timmins economy, and a seminar planned for the community will discuss some of the most recent developments in the industry.
The city’s Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with Lake Shore Gold to present “The State of Mining”, which will include remarks by Brendon Marshall, who is the Mining Association of Canada’s Vice President of Economic and Northern Affairs. It will be filled with information that may be useful to those who work in the sector.
The session will explore a variety of topics, and these include the role Canada has to play in the extraction of minerals for batteries and other uses. Climate change, industry trends and the importance of the sector in the overall economic health of the nation will also be discussed, and for the safety of the attendees and speakers alike, it will take place using the Zoom platform.
Even though a function like this may be hosted online, hard Copies of any materials used are often appreciated by participants. Print shops can supply such materials.
The State of Mining is scheduled to be presented at 10:30 am on January 27th, and a question-and-answer session will follow. Timmins Chamber of Commerce members are welcome, and this invitation has been extended to the membership of other Northern Ontario Chambers.
