Running events hit Timmins next month

The city of Timmins is hosting two runs this July. They are a great way for participants to test their fitness.

The first event planned is the 11th annual Heart of Gold Triathlon, presented by the Timmins Marlins Swim Club and Triathlon Ontario. A triathlon consists of swimming, cycling and running. There will be several categories of competition, including individual, team, "try-a-tri", and a kids’ triathlon. Overall winners, male and female, will receive $50. Entry fees vary depending on category, with the highest being $70 for individual sprint distance and the lowest being $25 for the kid's triathlon.

Later on in the month, the Mud Factor run returns to Timmins for the 14th year. This is a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of Timmins – Porcupine District, and is a non-competitive run. Participants can pay a registration fee of $35 (until June 16th) or $20 for children aged 12 and under, or raise pledges.

Timmins printing companies are often asked to help provide pledge Forms and other printed materials for events like these.

The Heart of Gold Triathlon is being held at Gillies Lake Beach and Conservation Area on July 13th, beginning at 7:00am. Call 705-268-7709 for more information.

The Mud Factor will take place at Porcupine Ski Runners on July 19th, from 8:00am - 3:00pm. To learn more about the run, call 705-268-4554.
