Tomorrow, June 22, sees a musical treat in store for Timmins residents, as Jim Cuddy will be playing at the McIntyre Arena as part of the City of Timmins 100th Anniversary Celebration.
The highly entertaining music concert was originally scheduled for May 31 but had to be cancelled due to the many large scale forest fires surrounding Timmins. Officials believe that the situation is now under enough control to allow the concert to go ahead on the new rescheduled date.
Opening up for Jim Cuddy will be Kraig Nienhuis and the 9 House Band, a popular rock group that plays all over Ontario and the northern United States. It has recently been announced that the Settlers Creek Band, one of Canada’s hottest new country music acts, will also be on the itinerary at the venue.
The concert is one of many events planned this summer for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Timmins. A colorful poster of the event can be found online and gives all the details of the event. Copies can be downloaded and taken to a Print company for poster printing.
Jim Cuddy is best known as one of the lead vocalists, song writers, and acoustic guitarist for the band Blue Rodeo, who received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2009, making them the fifth band to receive the honor. Over the years, Cuddy has cut three solo albums and regularly tours with The Jim Cuddy Band along with a number of other artists.
