December is the month of holiday cheer, and locals can raise their spirits by enjoying a step back in time on a guided tour through Halifax Citadel, experiencing some delectable delights along the way.
On Fridays and select Saturdays through to December 17, the historic Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is offering visitors aged 19 and over a special 75-minute holiday tour and tasting. Led by a lively guide dressed in the traditional uniform of the kilted 78th Highlanders, guests will wander through the many exhibits, rooms and areas of the Citadel, where they will learn about what life was like for the soldiers and civilians who lived there in 1869.
The highlight of the tour will be a tasting of some of the fine aged spirits crafted right within the Citadel by renowned Compass Distillers, along with a selection of artisanal cheeses and other tasty treats. Showcasing local producers at the historic site allows the opportunity for brochure printing to provide visitors with information about other merchandise available at different locations, while Promotional Products would make suitable takeaways for special groups.
Tours can be booked online through the Discover Halifax website, the Citadel website, or by dropping in at the Halifax Citadel in person. The cost is $60 plus HST per person and private group tastings are also available when booked in advance.
