Halifax has been chosen to play host to the national figure skating championships in January next year.
It is expected that the event will be a big boost to the city’s economy, and it is estimated that it will bring in between $4 million and $5 million in revenue to the area.
Athletes and fans will all need to have lodging, food and other services, and a professional Print company will be able to provide any printing services that are required.
The chief marketing officer of Skate Canada, Mark Halliday, noted that it will be a welcome contribution to the city’s economy during the winter months, when tourism tends to be less brisk. It will bring people into the area for the skating and give them a chance to get to know Halifax
The competition will be held at Scotia Bank Center, and new executive class seats will be set up for the event. Along with the main championship, there are plans to look into holding other activities at Emera Oval and other locations. According to the city’s Mayor, the city will “be rocking”.
The competition is scheduled to take place between January 18th and January 24th, with about 250 skaters taking part. It will be the fourth time that it has been held in the area.
